We are very excited that you have used our QR code to find out more about the Purdue Collegiate Ministry. You may have seen us out on the Purdue campus giving away hot chocolate or popcorn at the Class of 50.
We are an official organization on the Purdue University main campus. Our mission statement is, “The PCM is a body of students striving together to glorify God and spread His love through relationships and service.”
Our desire is help people grow in their understanding of Jesus Christ. This ranges from those that have never heard of Jesus, those that have grown up knowing about Him, to those that are a Christian desiring to get plugged into a ministry on campus. The rest of our web site will give you more details about the organization.
Why do we give hot chocolate or popcorn away? Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and yet He died on the cross to take our sins upon himself so that we were made clean before God almighty. (1 Peter 2:22, 1 John 2:2, Hebrews 9:22, Acts 3:19) Jesus gave His life as a GIFT to us.
We are all sinners according to Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Because of sin we deserve death which separates us from God. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You may be wondering how you can be made clean from your sin that separates you from God. It is actually very simple, all you need to do is ADMIT, BELIEVE, & COMMIT (A,B,C). First admit that you are a sinner and we see that in Romans 3:23 that ALL have sinned but you must see that in your own life. Second is to believe that Jesus Christ is God and died for your sins. In John 14:6 Jesus states “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus Christ is the only way to get to God and so we must believe in Him to get to God. Third is the commitment to live our life to follow Jesus Christ. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus answers that we are to be committed to God, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Now is the time to commit to following Him in your entire life. This is not an option but a commandment, something God expects from us. We are to Love God with everything and then love everyone else. Our lives are to be a reflection of this commandment if we are committed to Jesus Christ. If you are want to spend eternity with Jesus and are willing to follow the ABC’s then just pray to God. The prayer below will help guide you in expressing your commitment to Christ.
“Dear God, I am coming to you to let you know that I admit that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive me for the sins I have committed. I commit my life to following you this day forward. Thank you for loving me so much that you died for my sins so I can spend eternity with you. Amen”
Feel free to pray whatever you feel led to say to God. This is just an example prayer.
